The Heritage Sites program recognizes historic and contemporary sites throughout Evanston that have import significance to the local African American community. Applications are reviewed annually by a rotating committee of three selected primarily from Evanston’s African American citizens and chaired by one member of the Shorefront board of directors or staff member of Shorefront. If a committee could not be convened, then the Shorefront board of Directors will facilitate the final decisions. All submissions are due by January 1 and decisions shall be made by April 1 each calendar year.
